Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub fits very nicely into Germanic Mt Angel. With it's bright interior, cuckoo clock, and German music on the loudspeakers, The Glockenspiel will definitely get you into the mood for some bratwurst and sauerkraut. The servers here are warm, friendly, and very helpful. When the servers aren't' serving they are cleaning the restaurant. Glockenspiel Restaurant and Pub is so clean it sparkles! The food. Glockenspeil does some things very well. The dill soup, the spaztle, and the German chocolate cake are excellent. The spaztle are fried along with the wiernerschnitzel which gives them a great texture and flavor. The wienerschnitzel was on the salty side. The Reuben sandwich came with delicious sauerkraut but the sauce was totally lame. Guess I've been spoiled by Goose Hollow's Reuben. The fondue had a nice wine flavor but it was accompanied by small, tasteless pieces of bread. The prices. They're high! For a small town restaurant Glockenspiel restaurant's prices are definitely on the high side. I'm convinced that Portland restaurants like Gustav's, Rheinlander, and Berlin Inn can give you better quality German food for less. Have heard that Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub is a tourist trap. Well, no more so than the rest of the town. Though I wouldn't drive to Mt Angel for German food I would definitely enjoy being German for the day at Glockenspeil Restaurant and Pub.

I love this place. Great food, great service and the waitresses are very nice. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and spatzel, very good. My grandson, 10, also had that for the first time and loved it. He is pretty picky too. The atmosphere is great, bright and clean. We come here quite often but not near enough.

I'm not sure why this restaurant receives so many high praises, all I can do is rate my own experience there. I went there on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter, the dining area was about 1/4 occupied and we were seated promptly. After about a 15-20 minute wait, a bus girl came to take our drink order, we received our drinks and my daughter found a hair stuck to the glass of her drink. Gross... It appears that this place is extremely under staffed, and while the poor waitress (I think there was only one) was running around, the bus girls were trying to help as much as possible. Another 10-15 min goes by and the waitress comes to take our food order. The food comes out about 20-25 minutes later, and as a vegan (sometimes vegetarian) I specifically asked for 'no meat' in the only vegetable dish on the menu which has a meat option for extra $, it came out with chicken in it. I took a bite into it without checking first - so, my bad. After I get the waitresses attention about the meat in the dish, she offers to have another one prepared and I asked her to have it put it in a to-go container because we really have already spent enough time there as it was. My daughter ordered the pork schnitzel, and she might be a bit biased having eaten this dish in Germany and Austria many times, she claimed it was less than impressive. She said it tasted very 'processed'. My to-go box was brought out to me quite quickly (surprisingly) and the waitress comp'd my coffee for the inconvenience. I was about 4-5 bites into it in the car, and there it is - another hair!!!

We started with fondue, I had the jäger schnitzel my son had the Rheinpfalz Klopse MIT Apfel (German meatballs). The wife had the wiener schnitzel with both the normal brat and a true German style brat. I also had a dark german brew which went perfect with the sausages called a dunkel. I was very appreciative of a great meal with good portions. There are many different styles of beer to choose from and makes for a great dinning experience. If you ever have a chance to get out to Mt. Angel make sure that you stop by here and get a great meal. Parking can be a little bit of an issue if you going during busier times as there is only so much street parking to choose from. Other than that, make the journey and have a great meal.

We ate here when we we're visiting my mom's family, and had a wonderful time. My 11-month-old daughter loved the bread & apple cheese fondue (so did I!). The only bummer was that my grandpa wanted the prime rib, but they had just run out. The food was all very tasty (I had the Cesar salad), and so was the dessert! Most of us at the table ordered the chocolate mouse chocolate cake dessert (I can't remember exactly what they called it). Very good! Right as we were leaving the were able to watch the glockenspiel play. My baby thought it was pretty neat to watch the people moving around, and starred at it the whole time.

This is in the top five German restaurants I've ate at since I visited Germany in 2001. The Spaten bier was fresh, the soup of the day (mushroom) was superb, the wurst were flavorful and perfectly done and the kraut was very good. All that was missing was some red cabbage. The Spaetzle was the second best I've had in the US. That's saying something. My wife had the wiener schnitzel. She says that it was excellent. The decor was bright and typical of a Bavarian restaurant. The service was quick and attentive. We saw the 1:00 PM. glockenspiel just after we ate. It also was the real deal. It was even adapted to the local community incorporating native americans, the Abbot, and Mother Superior. If you have been Bavaria, this place is worth a stop.

I found this place to be completely charming. But then again, I'm a pushover for servers in dirndls, lederhosen and knee-high socks. What impressed me most is how they handled service during one of the busiest days of the year for the restaurant during Mt. Angel's annual Oktoberfest. Their stroke of genius was to offer a reduced menu containing 10 of their most popular items, rather than their full menu, so they could turn tables quickly. Our party of four was seated for lunch within 5 minutes without any advance reservation. And while it wasn't the kind of day when the server is going to hang out and make chit chat, she was completely on the ball and anything I asked for arrived almost immediately and was served with a smile. I believe our drinks and food all arrived within 10 minutes, but I didn't feel rushed or pressured to eat and vacate either. Please do not go here expecting 'authentic' Bavarian food. This isn't the food my mother-in-law prepares in her kitchen. They say up front, the chef "takes the bounty of the Northwest and gives it a touch of Bavaria." The décor is similarly Bavarian-inspired with warm wood walls and beams, but also modern, clean and cozy. Bonus points since a working Glockenspiel operates at this building with moving figures and bells at 11a, 1, 4 and 7p daily ( oktoberfest.org/ofestdoc… ). So if you are in Mt. Angel and want to experience a little hint of Bavaria, stop by and have some bier, wurst and fondue for me. Prost!

The Glockenspiel has really good German food, a nice wine selection and a comfortable atmosphere. But they have also turned into a great steak house. Great natural beef that is dry aged and tender and delicious. Steak lovers should plan a trip there to enjoy a great steak prepared very well.

The Glockenspiel is a new restaurant in Mt. Angel, a small town outside of Salem known for its monastery, nunnery, and Oktoberfest. Its fitting that this town has its own glockenspiel, is an old world cuckoo clock, this one goes off every 3 hours. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, plenty of beers on tap, local wines are also sold by the glass or bottle. The food is great, the service is prompt. I had the sausage plate with spaetzle, sauerkraut, and vegetables, that with a pint of their Oktoberfest will put you into a coma. The marionberry cobler ala mode is very, very good!

Amazing food and great staff. The menu is full of all the German specials such as locally made German sausage and Spätzle. The fondue is almost perfect. My favorite dish is the Haselnuss Schnitzel. it is a butter-fried cutlet with chopped hazelnuts and a squeeze of fresh lemon. They have a great selection of German beers and a good wine list. The fish fry on Fridays is the best deal in this small town. This time of year they also celebrate asparagus with some creative dishes that keep us coming back.

Good food, we enjoyed it. The vegetable was green beans and I normally don't care for green beans, but these green beans were nice and tender! The Broccolli and Cheese soup was okay. The pork dishes that we had were flavorful and the chocolate cream that we had for dessert was so bitter because it was dark, dark chocolate; very rich and good but at the same time, a little on the expensive side. Nice decor inside and out, very comfortable. Edited to say: Waitress brought us our straws in her bare hands with no wrapper. Why are restaurants buying unwrappered straws and why are waitresses not using a napkin to wrap them in before touching & giving to the customer to put in their mouths? We don't know where their hands have been...especially if they were just collecting money. More than anything, just buy wrapped straws!

Worth a stop for fabulous German fare.... definitely try the kasse spaetzle on the lunch menu.... The service is friendly, the food is delicious and the town is adorable. Finish your meal with some apple struedel and then stroll over to Blackberries for a little retail therapy!!

While visting my friend out in Scio, OR we decided to come out to Mt. Angel and check out the Oktoberfest. We stopped in the Glockenspiel and I was frankly stunned at the beers on tap. At least eight german and austrian brands. I ended up ordering the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissen. The food was typical german / bavarian fair and solid over all. What would truly would bring me back though is the beer. Absolutely nothing wrong in that department.

First time at the Glockenspiel Restaurant. Had the fish fry and German chocolate cake. Yum. Wife had the Caesar salad and the chocolate mouse cake...double yum. Service was great, food was great and the beer was great. Will be going back on 12-17-11 for a family get together. Well the Christmas diner went very well. Lots of good food, good drinks and good friendship with the best family. Will be making this stop in the future as good times were had by all. Merry Christmas.

This place is a favorite of mine. The food isn't completely traditional bavarian but is great none the less. The Fondu with mushrooms and sausage is wonderful and I've been known to order it to go. I was employed here as a line cook so am intimately familliar with the place. I still sometimes find myself humming the tunes to german folk songs in my head. In october, the tomatoes are likely to come from co-owner mary's garden and the mushrooms were picked by line cook paul and his brother. They employ a line cook I went to culinary school with so the daily specials are often anything but german and sometimes quite cutting edge. The Jaeger-Schnitzel with mushrooms and bacon is always good and the beer selection is amazing. Constantly rotating german, austrian and belgian beers you can always count on a treat. Try getting your favorite beer in a take home glass for $10. These aren't cheap souvenir glasses you get at the spaghetti factory either. They're high quality Konig or Stella glasses in the proper shape for each style and featuring the beers logo. I have a full set of Stella glasses at home. If you're going to pat $6 for the beer, why not pay $10 and take the glass home. All desserts are made in house and the peanutbutter pie is the finest I've tasted. The restaurant is beautiful inside too. You feel like you're in a wine barrel. The best time to go is during the oktoberfest though, not for the food mind you,(the menu is limited and while excellent, a few of my favorites fail to make appearances.) but there is something about a pretty serving girl in a dirndl that really does it for me.

This was our second time coming here after a cycling event and we had fantastic meals both times. The restaurant is charming, clean, and the staff polite and friendly. The first time I went I had the hazelnut-crusted chicken with a side of rotkohi (caramelized apple and brazed red cabbage) and it was TO DIE FOR! Very juicy and perfectly cooked; the cabbage creamy and with just enough zing. My husband had their spatzle both times as well because its so addictive. Of course, heavy cream and lots of butter will do that ;) Very large, generous portions. The second time I ordered the hazelnut-crusted cod and sadly, it was significantly bland and under-seasoned. A little salt would have gone a long way :( Our favorite drink by far was the grapefruit radler. Well balanced and you can really taste the fruit. We've had a few other cocktails there that were "okay". These folks lose a star in my book because of the cod dish and also because even though business was slow both times we went, we had to wait forever to get our food. Good thing we weren't in a hurry either time! The slow service aside, we definitely recommend this restaurant and will return again in the future!

Went on Sat. Sept 19th for Octoberfest 11 am. Service was excellent! FOOD: What a disappointment. I ordered cucumber salad, and potato salad, which was too vinegary, especial when served hot. My friend ordered Wiener Schnitzel, which was bland and tasteless. We decided never to go back. We were much more surprised and satisfied when we drove 5 miles south to Silverton and ate at Creekside Grill and sat overlooking the creek side. Marvelous Food and TASTY!! I had wanted to go there for months. creeksidesilverton.com Silverton is a great little town to explore.

Good food and the service was great. I'm not a beer drinker so that aspect of it is lost on me, but I enjoyed the food. The vibe and atmosphere is pretty cool as well. Don't know if it was good enough to make the trek back out to Mt. Angel for though.

It's been on "the list" to come here for some time. Myself and two friends came along. The building is really charming with a real glockenspiel that puts on a "show" about 4x a day. We just missed the 1pm, so maybe next time. One of our party is German, and she was looking forward to it. She was happy to see a beer she drank back home in Germany, she ordered it, and it made her day. I don't remember the name of what I ordered, but it was a fruity beer mixed with grapefruit juice. Very good! Other friend had the "bikini", a fruity mixed drink. I ordered the cabbage rolls, which were good but not great. They came with potatoes. Friend had the wiener schnitzel, whi9ch was a very small piece with light breading. According to my German friend, the food isn't very German, it's been Americanized. The creamy curry salad dressing is SO DELICIOUS. You can buy it to go. We had a full day ahead, , so had to pass on that, but that dressing was the best part of the meal. Service: good if a little slow. The place wasn't very full, and maybe the food takes a little extra time to prepare?

Always enjoy this place - hazelnut encrusted cod with warm red cabbage were good. Also tried the schnitzel sticks with creamy curry sauce - wish I could take home a bottle of that curry dressing! My favorite! We really had the taster trio app, lots of food for two! Great service.

This place surprised me. We ordered the fondue appetizer which was pretty tasty. My fiancé and I split the cabbage rolls and the burger. Both were pretty good. The cabbage rolls could have had more flavor or more sauce over them. The mashed potatoes that came with it were cold. The bread was delicious. We ordered the burger medium well but when it came it was bright red throughout. Yummy bun and sauce though. My fiancé also have the key lime pie which was super yummy. Overall a fairly good experience.

Better value would make it a 5 star easy. Theres lots of german flavor in the Mt Angel area. Like any good red blooded American I have a soft spot for german food. This place definitely hits the spot. I would come back for sure. Great beer selection. At least for me. Where else can you get a tasty Radler in November. We started off the the large fondue. Great flavor and texture. I don't know if I would call it "Large" but it was enough for two hungry people. My wife started off with the squash soup. Great flavors. A little sweet, but not too sweet. I got the curry chicken soup. I think I didn't like it because of the name curry. It wasn't very strong. If they called it "Chicken vegetable soup" I would be like, "Damn, that's some good soup. I wonder what that flavor is." For the main course my wife got the glockenspaetzle. Like a german riff on a pasta primavera. Lots of yummy vegetables, maybe a little heavy on the bell peppers. Good luck finishing this in one sitting. Thank you yelpers for your pictures. The reuben looked good, but not that good. I went with the wurst plate. The sausages were really flavorful and well cooked with a really tasty local mustard, and I don't even like mustard. Sauerkraut was not too sauer either. Great side. The side of spaetzle was very flavorful. Nothings worse than bland spaetzle. Only draw back is that the plate was quite expensive for what I got. Knock off two dollars and I'd be raving. There is a lot of seating and the service was very friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be back...if I've ever back in Silverton.

I'd heard great stuff about the restaurant, especially at Oktoberfest, so I was expecting hearty portions, raucous patrons & oompah music... The music was spot on, the beer selection was good and reasonably priced, but the food, while good, was overpriced. I had the potato pancakes, the portion was fair, but they really didn't have much flavor (and some applesauce with them would have helped) & the sausage sampler. If there was 4oz of sausage in my sampler I'd be surprised; I was expecting a link each of bratwurst & German sausage, along with kraut, mustard & pickles. What I got was perhaps 1/3 of each sausage link, sliced, atop a bed of kraut...it was disappointing for a $12.95 menu item. Would I go back? For beer while out junking in Silverton/Mt. Angel, sure. For food while junking; no.

My hubby and I stopped here for lunch.. My hubby had the bratwurst reuben.. He said it was tasty.. They have hand cut fries we ordered them crispy and they got it right!!!! I had the Glockenspiel burger.. It was on a toasted pretzel bun with thin sliced red onions and all the basic fixins.. I thought it was delish!! The meat in my butger was YUMMO!! Go for it... I would come back if I am ever in his town again :-) :-) :-)

A Prost to the Glockenspiel!!! This place was fantastic. Mt. Angel is lucky to have this fine establishment. I've never went to eat at a German restaurant, but now that I've experienced some pretty good eats, we'll be coming back again and again. We had reservations for 7:30 last night. We arrived 5 minutes early and were greeted with a smile. The ambiance here is amazing. The Bavarian decorations, beer steins, and wood trim was awesome. The menu was as German as it gets. Meatballs with brown gravy, hazelnut crusted chicken, pork cutlets rolled and breaded, brats, sausages, reubens, the list goes on. My father got the Wurstplatte, which had 4 different sausages that were absolutely delicious. I sampled 2 of the 4, and what I loved was that it didn't have an overwhelming salty taste like some sausages do. These were mild and full of flavor. They paired perfectly with the German beer we had. I ordered the Reuben, and it was really good. I've had other Reubens, which are delicious in their own way. However this version seemed to be how a reuben should be. The Rye was toasted not grilled, the Sauerkraut was tucked between the meat and the cheese, and it wasn't drenched in dressing. The sandwich was well thought out. The fries that came with it were great as well, tasted like real fresh potatoes. My wife ordered one of the specials which was the Seafood Fettuccine. For $18, she got a large plate of pasta with 4-5 large scallops, flaky salmon and shrimp. Yes, of course I had to try it. It was really good, the pasta was cooked al dente, and the seafood flavor was rich without being too fishy or overwhelming. I have to say the Marrionberry Vinaigrette that my wife ordered with her salad was really good, and a nice change of pace from other vinaigrette's. Service was great. Considering how busy they were, it took about 10 minutes for them to get our drink orders, but at that time we knew what we wanted to eat so we placed our orders. Food came out within 15 minutes. Again, very reasonable for how busy this place was. If passing through Mt. Angel, or visiting for Oktoberfest, you should stop in for a bite to eat. You wont be disappointed with the level of service or the quality of food!!

We have lived in Oregon for over 20 years and have NEVER been to Mt Angel. Our intent was to go get some Brats at the Mt Angel Sausage Company, but we were also hungry for lunch. The restraunt was very clean and we were seated to by two very attentive and friendly servers. They are the main reason I went with a 5 start review. The prices were just a little higher on a couple of things and the seating by the windows was really cold. The fondue with bread, apples and sausage was very good. We both got the wiener schnitzel and it was flavorful, but the portion was a little small. We heard one of the servers describe the 'Mt. Angel Coffee' to another patron... We read the drink menu immediately. Coffee...check, whiskey...check, Kailua...check, whipped cream...check and finished off with a drizzle of chocolate topping. We got this and a warm apple strudel to split. OMG, it was strong! Not coffee strong, but 'cannot feel my lips' strong. The game was, a sip of the 'magic' coffee, then a chaser of strudel. It was a great lunch date and we had a lot of fun with the food, service and... Did we mention the coffee?

They have a lot of red meat and no vegetarian options- but, that's what German food is about I guess. Everything I eat here is not outstanding, but it is tasty enough. Food gets three stars. What really sets this place apart is the service. They have a real friendly staff and everything was served on time and with a smile. Small town sweetness :)

Weird place. Food was good and the servers were very friendly. Service took an uncomfortably long time which was best reflected by the couple sitting next to us that simply got up and left (I'm assuming that was why but who knows).

I ate at their booth at the Mt Angel Wurstfest. I ordered a bratwurst sandwich with all the fixins. The broiche roll was tasty, the bratwurst was to live for and the fixins melt in your mouth. I also ordered the Spatzle which was fried in a garlic butter sauce. Simply delicious. I stopped by the restaurant which is just down from the festival and checked out the menu. They have a lot of other sausage options and German style fare. The staff were very friendly and the inside looked very clean and cozy. I will definitely eat their food again.

I don't know anything about German food and I have lost my taste for German beer since discovering Oregon IPAs. For that reason, it is hard for me to separate my opinions of this restaurant from my opinions about German cuisine. Is Glockenspiel an authentic representation of German food? Not all cultures are created equal: is German food good, in general? I think they are more famous for cars. I have no idea. I have been here several times because my wife loves it. I can say that I am a little bored by the food served at Glockenspiel. The schnitzel is nice but not something I am going to go out of my way to eat: too much like a chicken-fried steak, which I prefer. The soups actually are pretty awesome - but they are soups: it is hard for me to get excited about soup. My family loves the soup, they even buy it and take it home. It's great soup, there is a brown one with little dumplings or something in it (spezels? I don't know) that is an absolute umami bomb but I mean it's just soup. I get steak when I go there now. The steak is decent: cooked to order and flavorful. I didn't feel great about paying 24 bucks for a 12 ounce choice steak, but you win some and you lose some. Now the fondue is awesome. If you go, you must get the fondue. TLDR: If you like ethnic food and want to try German, you must go. If you are German, you must at least try it and tell us if this is a good example of German food. If you are looking for a good place to take a date in the Woodburn / Mt. Angel / Silverton area, Glockenspiel has to be on the short list. Stay until 7 and you will see them set off the mechanical clock on the roof from which the restaurant takes its name.

Ehhhhh.... NO. Never again. While the food was decent, the prices aren't. $18 for a dinner entree that I could easily have eaten two of. Seriously--my husband ordered the two person German feast ($35) and ate both plates including soup AND a salad. That's how small the portions were! My schnitzel wasn't pounded thin enough and the un-crispy crust was falling off. The jager sauce was delicious, but there wasn't enough of it. Asparagus that was served with the schnitzel was too thick to be good. And the spaetzel? Boooooo! The very best part of the meal was the kids' mac n' cheese. It was the best macaroni and cheese I have ever had in my life and there was a ton of it for only $5. I suspect they use the fondue cheese for the sauce. Waitstaff was nice.

We drove about 20 mins out of our way for this place, while I wasn't amazed, it was worth it. Our waiter was a super nice, and the bartender came over to ask which of my drinks I liked more. My boyfriend was asked numerous times by multiple waitstaff is he needed a refill on his soda. The fondue was very wine tasting, it was ok, but not the best. The sausage we added on was pretty meh, the bread was really hard. I got the blackened cod, which was amazing. The clan chowder was super good, had whole pieces of clam in it! It's a more fancy family oriented, special occasion place and the prices reflect that. We'll try one of the local bars on the same block next time

First time in Mt. Angel. Seems like a neat little town with a few things to check-out. Glockenspiel is a cool German-themed eatery. The food was good - I had a burger on a pretzel bun and my wife had fondu. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, past the lunch hour, so it was a bit slow. I would guess that this is not normal. In any case, would go back again when in the area!

The food was so bad. The potatoes were obviously reheated, but even then we're just luke warm. They forget our bread and neatly but my wife's order in her food when serving.

The place has a nice German feel to it. The decoration is accurate and the staff wears some traditional Bavarian garb. The service was fast and friendly. The beer is good, they have a decent selection with some German taps. The price is a bit on the higher side at around $17 a plate. The appetizer salad actually had some nice greens in it, which is a plus. We shared the "Octoberfest plate" which is a two person meal which ran around $35. The food was more of a 3 star but the ambiance, service, and beer pushed this to a 4.

Recently I hosted a group of people, about 15, at the Glockenspiel. This was arranged in advance. On the night, the tables were perfectly set up. Everyone was seated quickly. Drink orders were also quickly taken. At my request, the chef came out to introduce himself and explain the menu; nice touch. My guests ordered from different parts of the menu: steaks (especially), various schnitzels, and salads. The dinners came out in a very timely fashion. Food was excellent. We all left thoroughly impressed with the service and the quality of our dinners. Couldn't have been better.

This place was certainly a pleasant surprise. The menu had several interesting options, and I really had trouble making a decision. In the end, I decided (against my better judgment) to go with the cheese fondue. Oh my... bread and cheese.... Is there anything better (or worse for the ol' ticker)? They also had a separate asparagus menu (as it was in season, I guess), which made choosing even more difficult. The bruschetta was excellent. Overall, everybody found something that they wanted on the menu, and everybody left satisfied. We also stepped outside for the Glockenspiel performance. It was cool... started about 5 minutes late (and my fondue was getting cold), and we were satisfied after about a minute or two... but hey, not something you see every day! Certainly worth dropping by if you happen to be in the area.

This place rocks! We make the drive here every year when our team plays in the area. Everything from the fondue to the jäger chicken to the key lime pie and German chocolate cake deserts are excellent. Service is always good too. They've gone out of their way to accommodate us even when coming in late. Definitely 5 stars.

What could be better than a meal of traditional German food the evening before Thanksgiving? Nothing. This was the second visit to this establishment for my partner and I. We were invited at the last minute by friends who were celebrating a 'Thanksgiving for Friends' the night before the big Turkey day. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. and discovered the restaurant closed at 8. Our dining companions arrived at 7:20 and we all ordered. (here is where I admit that my partner and I had already eaten dinner at home so we were simply there to have dessert and enjoy the company) While we had a group of 6, the waitress was attentive and friendly. The dining area was warm and inviting and we had the place to ourselves as there were no other patrons this night. The fondues arrived and were fabulous! The sampling of breads, apples and sausages we ordered for dipping were all very well prepared. When the main courses arrived, all our dining companions were raving about the meal with the standout exception of the Spaetzle. All stated they felt it was overcooked. (I pointed out that since we were the last diners of the night, the probably received the last of the daily supply). It is this sole downfall that is bringing my review down to four stars. My partner and I split a dessert of Key Lime Pie which was very good. It was the perfect balance between sweet and tart. Price point for Glockespiel is mid range and you can get a fine meal for under 20 dollars. Their selection of traditional German Beirs is limited though.

Part Bavarian kitsch and part local family diner, this place is a lot of fun. Since it was Friday, three of us ordered fish and everyone was happy with their picks. The Vegetarian got rotkohl and spatzle, both were great. I enjoyed the rotkohl very much, it's apple and cabbage and it had a great texture and was almost savory. I've wanted to try Glockenspiel for a while, and it didn't let us down. Great value for a nice dinner.

Its been over three years since I left Chicago and moved to Oregon. Since that time I haven't had any good german food, until I came here.. OMG it is awesome and I will DEFINITELY be back. We started with Appetizers.. I had the mushroom soup and my wife had a salad. For dinner I had the hunters schnitzel, while wifey had schnitzel too. For our side we had spatizel dumplings.. we had desert that was like a chocolate lie but built like a small cake slice.. it was good too. at the end of the day, this place was awesome and I will go back for more excellent german food!!!!

Visited this place for the first time about a week ago for lunch. It was fantastic. We got seated promptly and the service was fast and the food wonderful. Will go back again soon. The place was less than half full so it was quiet.
